In late 2020 between Covid-19 lockdowns I worked with designer Ravi Deepres at the Chichester Festival theatre on video projections for “Crave”, by the late playwright Sarah Kane. As part of the commission we made a film combining the on-stage PTZ cameras, the web streaming cameras and our own video projection material. Our aim was to create a film that would - as best we could - portray some of the atmosphere and tension of the actual stage performance rather than a passive ‘documentation’ of the what happened on stage. The film was streamed by Chichester Festival Theatre on a pay per view basis as an additional way of showing the production to the public and gaining valuable income.

In 1966 at 20 years of age Professor Simon Baddeley (University of Birmingham) & his friend Sue Best crossed the Atlantic Ocean in the 22ft Sloop “Young Tiger”. They won the 1966 RCC Challenge in the process. I’ve begun interviewing them and am developing a short film about their adventures. How such experiences early in ones life can influence adulthood has become a key element.

Littleton Colliery was the last deep mine pit in Staffordshire to close on 10th December 1993 with the final loss of 600 jobs. Having grown up in Cannock the pit had been part of the landscape to me. I photographed the last day in 1993 and went back in 2006 to photograph and film the miners again. Directed by Luke Unsworth, assisted by Ravi Deepres.

Wonderland was an exhibition created by the Flatpack Film festival in 2022 at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. I was commissioned to create a film of the astonishing scale model of Odeon New Street, built by diamond-cutter Cyril Barbier over the course of thirty years. I travelled down to an old music hall in Porth, nr Cardiff where the model was stored to film the miniature.
